Happy Holstein

Well, aren't these the cutest baby boys that you ever did see.  My cousin got them at an animal auction in Delaware for $1.00 here, $2.00 there.  These little fellas were sick, starving and only a couple days old.  Can you believe it!  If I had the room, I would of taken the black and white one home with.  Something tells me that hubby wouldn't of been too happy about that.  Turns out, these little guys drink a whole lot of milk and they are on special medicine to make them strong and health.  The first pick is of Hoss (the one I LOVED!) and our son.

They were just hanging out in my aunt's yard when we got there.  Hoss is who we saw first and then this cute little brown one, that you'd swear was a deer.  I think his name was Little Joe.  Take a look!

After we saw the babies, we decided to go inside and eat.  And then we waited for the fun part.............feeding them with big baby bottles.  This was so much fun.  So here are some of the other picks of the cows and the turkeys.  I borrowed my mom's camera (and she is posted in the pics as well).  My mom has been sick with an undiagnosed illness since last July, and thankfully she is able to drive again.  But because she is taken medication, she isn't supposed to be out in the sun (see the hat).  I do believe she enjoyed feeding the baby cows as much as me.  Wyatt was just happy to get his WWE wrestling ring that mom-mom bought him.  But he did tell me he had fun feeding them on the way home.

The above little boy is named Ponderosa.  How cute!

Whoa!  You can't see my face or anything, but as you can tell, everyone wanted more milk!

This is Hoss, sucking on our fingers.  I think he misses his "Momma"......

The jersey cows, which are brown have baby teeth, so they tend to be a bit more rambunctious when having their milk.  The other jersey cows names were Ben and Cartwright.  I never realized until Friday night, after eating ribs, that when I mentioned a few of the names, that my brother-in-law, Ronnie, said that they were the names from the show Bonanza.  Wow!  I never knew it, because I never watched it before.

This is my Great Aunt Helen with Wyatt and Ponderosa.

GOBBLE! GOBBLE! GOBBLE.  This I suppose really was the theme for today, because the cows got their milk and they GOBBLED it right up!  I hope you enjoyed the visit.  I know we are looking forward to the next trip back again soon.

Photo of Dummy.....Take a Look, very creative!

There is a person that decorates their yard with a dummy set in different settings with seasonal displays.  What a nice surprise to be driving by and see "what's next".............I love the creativity.  Unfortunately this year, I'm beginning to wonder what has happened, because there hasn't been one display.  Even my little guy looks forward to our little drive to take a peek in their yard.

Westmoreland Berry Farm

Our 1st country drive was to Westmoreland Berry Farm in Colonial Beach, Virginia. What a cute little place!  And when they say it's in the boonies, they were right.  But what an enjoyable day we had.  The coolest part was this contraption that was made for the goats at the farm.  It is called a "Goat Walk", and after getting out of the truck and seeing it, we were floored.  This walkway, literally, goes up over your head from one side of the road to the other (take a peek at photos) and the goats walk over to get their food that you can buy and send up with a pulley system.  We got to kick back and rock away our worries in old time rocking chairs set up right off the main walkway into the country store.  And let me tell you, they had fresh fruit, homemade pies, jams, jellies, pickled relishes, bloody mary mix and the list goes on.  Did I mention they sold ice cream sundaes with FRESH fruit.  I only wish we took a picture before we dug in.  It was so "yummy"...........So we strolled, watched, wandered, pondered, pigged out and dig a little old fashioned rocking.  What a way to end the day!
